Στο μεταξύ έντονες αντιδράσεις στις ΗΠΑ έχει προκαλέσει η απόλυση του παρουσιαστή Tucker Carlson από το τηλεοπτικό δίκτυο Fox News.
Μεταξύ των άλλων, η πρώην παρουσιάστρια του Fox, Megyn Kelly, καταδίκασε επίσης στον τηλεοπτικό αέρα την απόφαση του δικτύου να λύσει τη συνεργασία του με τον Calrson, χαρακτηρίζοντάς την ως «φρικτή κίνηση».
Ο 53χρονος Carlson λέγεται ότι έμεινε έκπληκτος από το τηλεφώνημα της Δευτέρας το πρωί της διευθύνουσας συμβούλου Suzanne Scott που του είπε ότι απομακρύνεται από τον τηλεοπτικό αέρα.
Η απόφαση ελήφθη το βράδυ της Παρασκευής από τον Lachlan Murdoch, σύμφωνα με την Wall Street Journal.
Η εφημερίδα ανέφερε ότι τα στελέχη του δικτύου ήταν θυμωμένα με τα «υποτιμητικά σχόλια» που ο Carlson έκανε για τους συναδέλφους του, συμπεριλαμβανομένης της έκκλησης να απολυθεί ο δημοσιογράφος του Λευκού Οίκου Jacqui Heinrich επειδή ήταν επικριτικός όσον αφορά τις ενέργειες του Donald Trump και ότι είχε αποκαλέσει τα αφεντικά του «ανίκανους φιλελεύθερους» και «ηλίθιους».
