I hope nothing, I fear nothing, I am free

Arriving in Ithaka is what you're destined for. But don't hurry the journey at all

Dear Reader,

There are crossroads in your life that make you stand aside and think. What am I supposed to do now? you think hard and try to choose the way. Well let it be. Let the course of life lead the way.

Sometimes dreams do not come true. They are beautiful and seem ideal, but they are not what you are supposed to do. You do your best to help them realize but life shows that it is impossible. Prayers are powerful and have proved to be able to materialize. But they are not enough. How many times have you seen your prayers materialize? Enough you might say. But there are others that no matter how hard you push they do not want to come true.

So, there comes a time that you see through the blurry clouds of dreams and you long for the light that is visible beyond the fog. It is there. Freedom. Your dreams may be your slavery. Sometimes dreams are made of the conventions of society. “There no such thing as society” Thatcher said. I agree. We are the society. Without us it cannot exist.

So many things keep you tight. Conventions you have adopted and have not realized. Why should people find a match? Can they not live on their own? What makes the perfect match? You have found it so many times but there was always a catch. Something went wrong in the end.

Kazantzakis was so right. “I hope nothing, I fear nothing, I am free.”

I want to be free. I must throw away all my petty dreams and expectations. I can fly beyond the limits of my sense. Independence is a gift. When given it must be cherished and kept as a priority. Cut off the strings that hold you tight to conventions. He who is worth it can follow. He who is not, should not have been there in the first place.
Some incidents were supposed to appear as they had a role to play. That role at some point comes to an end. Curtains down.

This play is over. Audience claps satisfied. Thanks for the contribution. Now I should move on to the next production.
I feel excited. Although the previous play had beautiful characters it came to an end. It was a success. Successes do not last for ever. They would lose their glamour anyway. I have to create my new play. I look forward to my new characters. I need the procedure to completion. Kavafis advised: “Arriving in Ithaka is what you’re destined for. But don’t hurry the journey at all. Better if it lasts for years.”
